Born in 1859 in Paravur, Kollam. He became very famous in the field of astrology and Ayurvedic medicine. He started a newspaper called 'Sujanandini' and spread the messages of Gurudev among the people. In 1905, a big meeting was organized in Paravur to implement Gurudev's ritual reforms. Gurudev addressed that meeting and exhorted the people to do away with immoral practices. With that, the practice of thalikettu started and civilized marriages started to be practiced. Ashan has made countless contributions to the field of Malayalam literature. He died in 1916.
